Want a sleek look with a wider step area that will run the length of your truck to provide a place for you and your passengers to get into your truck? Running boards are the way to go! With the wider stepping area, you are also getting more protection to help shield your doors from rocks and other debris getting thrown up from the ground.
When you are looking to add a sportier look to your truck while also adding the durability and protection from debris Nerf Bars are your best choice! These step bars will typically have a tubular design with multiple step areas to provide you and your passenger with a flat, no-slip surface to step into the truck.
Rather than adding a stepping area that will run the full length of your trucks cab, a Side Step is designed to simply add a step area directly outside of the doors. This style of steps is one that will give you a smaller step area than typical side steps or nerf bars but is sought after because of it's more rugged looking design!
If you don't like the idea or look of having a bar the full cab length of your truck but you love the idea of adding an easier way to reach into the bed of your truck, then the Bed Step is the perfect addition for you! This step generally has a low profile design and can be a knee and back saver!
Are you still having a hard time choosing which bars are right for you? If so, you might ask yourself some of the following questions to help you decide.
What length of nerf bars do I want? You have three basic options for the length of the bars you choose. There is a wheel-to-wheel length that is a great fit for most trucks because it will extend past your rear doors and provide you with an additional step to your trucks bed. There is cab length that will give you the basic functionality of the steps outside your front and rear doors and will not extend to the bed of your truck. There is an individual step length that will simply give you the single step right outside of your front or rear doors.
What finish is going to the right look to your truck or Jeep? Most all running boards, side steps and nerf bars are available in both a stainless steel and black finish. The best way to choose the color that will look the best is to think about the exterior accessories that are already in place. If you have a lot of chrome pieces you might want to add the stainless steel step bars. If you have a lot of black pieces on you might choose to go with a black running board.
What size is right for me? There are multiple size variations when it comes to the width or diameter along with the length of your step bars. When talking about the width size this is where you will be stepping onto the bar to get into the truck. With the running boards they have a more standard size but with the nerf or oval bars you will have more of a variety ranging from a 3” to a 6” option.
What weight capacity is best for you? This is not a typical question most people look at asking when purchasing a new set of running boards, but for some people this is a top priority. Nearly all nerf bars can accommodate up to 300 pounds per tube at a time. If you don’t think this is going to be enough for you and will require a high capacity, we suggest you go with a reinforced running board or side step that can typically hold up to 500 pounds per board.
